Communication and Presentation Skills for Business Economists and Analysts

Learn to give presentations that get a group's attention, hold people's interest, and persuade them to act. This course introduces the principles of a powerful presentation, key characteristics of effective communication, and the five-step process for preparing a presentation. More course info.

Participants are encouraged to bring three to four slides from a presentation:

  • One slide of your introduction
  • One to two slides of content
  • One slide of your conclusion

These slides can be from a presentation that you are actively using now or are planning to use in your organization. The goal is to give you practice using real materials.

NABE Course Scholarships

Support for eligible NABE courses, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis.

Eligible applicants:

  • A student in a CBE University Partnership Program, or
  • Professionals who meet all of the following:
    • Currently employed in a role using economic concepts or tools
    • Completed a four-year degree from an accredited university
    • At least one year of work experience using economic concepts or tools

Recently Unemployed Scholarship for NABE Courses

Designed to help professionals stay connected and keep skills current during a career transition.

Eligible applicants:

  • Recently unemployed and actively seeking a new position in economics or statistics, or
  • Have accepted an early retirement package and plan to begin a job search for a position within six months

Cancellation, Refund & Transfer Policy – Education Courses

This policy applies to all NABE Education courses, including CBE courses. All cancellation or transfer requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected]. The program start date is defined as the first day of the course.

Substitutions:
Substitution requests will be considered upon written request submitted at least 4 business days prior to the program start date. Approval of substitutions is at NABE’s discretion.

Emergency Exceptions:
Exceptions will be considered only in cases of documented medical emergencies or serious personal hardship. Requests must be submitted in writing to [email protected] within 7 days of the program start date. All decisions are at NABE’s sole discretion.

About the Instructor

Emilie Booth

Emilie Booth has over 30 years' experience in training development/delivery and organizational development for a wide variety of clients across the country, including Chevron Corporation, Shell Oil Company, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Duke Energy, US Physical Therapy, Inc., and Halliburton. Prior to starting her own company, Ms. Booth was the human resources manager for a large financial institution with employees nationwide. She was responsible for all phases of the human resources function, including the development and delivery of staff and management training used by her employer. Ms. Booth holds a degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s degree from the University of Houston.
