The Applied Econometrics Certificate Program is not like academic econometric courses, which are often long on theory and short on practical applications. This program emphasizes business applications of statistical techniques and covers cutting-edge developments in economic methodologies and quantitative analysis.

NABE Course Scholarships
Support for eligible NABE courses, with applications accepted on an ongoing basis.
Eligible applicants:
- A student in a CBE University Partnership Program, or
- Professionals who meet all of the following:
- Currently employed in a role using economic concepts or tools
- Completed a four-year degree from an accredited university
- At least one year of work experience using economic concepts or tools
Recently Unemployed Scholarship for NABE Courses
Designed to help professionals stay connected and keep skills current during a career transition.
Eligible applicants:
- Recently unemployed and actively seeking a new position in economics or statistics, or
- Have accepted an early retirement package and plan to begin a job search for a position within six months
Cancellation, Refund & Transfer Policy – Education Courses
This policy applies to all NABE Education courses, including CBE courses. All cancellation or transfer requests must be submitted in writing to
[email protected]. The program start date is defined as the first day of the course.

Substitutions:
Substitution requests will be considered upon written request submitted at least 4 business days prior to the program start date. Approval of substitutions is at NABE’s discretion.
Emergency Exceptions:
Exceptions will be considered only in cases of documented medical emergencies or serious personal hardship. Requests must be submitted in writing to
[email protected] within 7 days of the program start date. All decisions are at NABE’s sole discretion.
About the Instructor
Professor Douglas Steigerwald received his B.A. from Pomona College and his Ph.D. from UC Berkeley, where he studied efficiency bounds for semiparametric estimators. He joined the faculty at UC Santa Barbara and is now also a Professor, by courtesy, of Statistics. At Santa Barbara he develops econometric methods to solve problems that arise at the intersection of economics, computer science, geography, and environmental science.
Professor Steigerwald has directed the American Economic Association's Summer Training Program, advised the Sloan Foundation on graduate research, and served as chair of the National Science Foundation's Graduate Research Fellowship Program in Economics.
