The Denver Association of Business Economists recently held elections and announced the results at the chapter’s Annual Summer Social Event on July 28.  The new officers are: President Ron New, Stifel, Nicolaus & Co., Inc.; Vice President Chris Akers, Colorado Department of Labor and Employment; Secretary Zak Brewer, Governor’s Office of State Planning & Budgeting; and Lisa Strunk, Development Research Partners.

The New York Association for Business Economics elected the following new officers: President Stephen Gallagher, managing director and chief U.S. economist, Societe Generale; First Vice President Andrew Tilton, Goldman Sachs; Second Vice President Dean Maki, Barclays Capital; Treasurer S. Alex Mallozzi, FERI Corporation; and Secretary Carol Zytnik.

NABE is pleased to announce a new program for NABE student chapters. In an effort to expand NABE’s presence on campuses and to grow future generations of economic professionals, the organization encourages students to get involved in business economics by establishing student chapters of NABE. All new NABE student chapter presidents and vice presidents will receive a free one-year membership with NABE. Also NABE will continue its promotion of free membership for university faculty members who recruit 10 or more students to NABE.  Students can join NABE at the student rate of $30 annually. The Gateway Chapter of the National Association for Business Economics and the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis St. Louis Chapter will host a luncheon program on August 30, at the St. Louis Fed on the economic and financial implications of the Restoring American Financial Stability Act.

The National Economists’ Club, the chapter in Washington, D.C., will kick off its fall schedule with a September 8 luncheon program with a speech by Jacob Funk Kirkegaard, research fellow at the Peterson Institute, on “Europe’s Response to the Greek Sovereign Debt Crisis.”
