NABE is pleased to announce the formation of its newest chapter--the MidSouth Association for Business Economics in Memphis. Chapter President Michael Drury, chief economist at McVean Trading and Investments LLC in Memphis, reports the chapter began a few months ago with four members, including himself. The other officers are: Michael Skordeles of Morgan Keegan as vice president, Jeff Wallace from the University of Memphis as secretary/treasurer, and Gary Beasley of FDIC as a sole board member. “At our first organizational meeting we drew 23 more recruits,” Drury said. Former NABE President Chris Varvares, president of Macroeconomic Advisers, was the chapter’s first guest speaker at a February 16 luncheon at the University of Memphis campus. “We learned at the first meeting that there once was a Memphis chapter, but its demise was many years ago. We do have a one member overlap!” Drury said. |
