Elizabeth Bernstein is an economist at the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis in Washington, D.C.  She joined NABE as an undergraduate at the University of Central Florida and in January 2009 earned her Masters of Arts in Economic Policy at Boston University.

Joseph Cardinale is the new chief economist at Air Products, Inc., in Allentown, Pa. He has worked in different divisions of the international firm over more than a decade.

Duncan Meldrum is the new managing director of HIS Global Insight’s Center for Forecasting and Modeling Excellence in Lexington, Mass.  He retired as chief economist at Air Products, Inc., in Allentown, Pa., at the end of October and his appointment at Global Insight was announced on December 3. He served as NABE president from 2003-2004.
 
J. Fred Weston, a NABE Fellow and recipient of Abramson Scroll Awards for his contributions to Business Economics, died July 20 at age 93.  He was professor emeritus of the Anderson School of Management at the University of California-Los Angeles.


NABE staff and members were deeply saddened to learn of the death of long-time member Keith Schwer, on December 3, of esophageal cancer.  He was 66.  He served for 23 years as director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas.   He also served as president of the Association for University and Economic Research (AUBER), a NABE affiliate.
