The Baltimore Economic Society plans to host a luncheon speech on November 27 by Raymond E. Owens III, vice president and senior economist, Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond. His talk on “An Update on Economic Conditions and Policy” will be held at the Baltimore Branch of the Richmond Fed.
The Denver Association of Business Economics held a luncheon event on October 21 on “Climate Change Policy in Colorado: An Economic Analysis of the Impacts” with Edward J. Balistreri, assistant professor at the Colorado School of Mines.
The San Francisco Chapter will host a luncheon talk on November 4 by Amar Mann, regional economist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, on “After the Dot-Com Bubble: Silicon Valley High-Tech Employment and Wages.” At an October 7 luncheon the chapter heard the latest on “The California Outlook” from Howard Roth, chief economist in the California Department of Finance.
NABE President Lynn Reaser will discuss “The U.S. and California Outlook: the Great Recession Has Ended, Now What?” at luncheon hosted by the Los Angeles Chapter on November 17 at the Omni Hotel in downtown LA. On October 28, the chapter heard from Robert Fraser, business development director at the North American Representative Office of Shenzhen, China.
The Economic Roundtable of Jacksonville, Fla., held a forum on “Understanding Health Care Reform” on October 27 at the Davis College of Business, Jacksonville University.
The National Economists’ Club, the chapter in the nation’s capital, held its annual dinner with Council of Economic Advisers Chair Christina Romer as the keynote speaker on Oct. 20.
In late September, the Hawaii Economics Association held a session on “Reducing Hawaii’s Carbon Footprint” with Denise Konan, professor at the University of Hawaii –Manoa.
