Get Connected Starts Mentor Program, Plans Webinars
Building on momentum from the 50th Annual Meeting in October and outreach to members, NABE’s Get Connected program for early and mid-career professionals has launched its mentor program and is preparing new offerings for 2009.
Next year, Get Connected will develop skills and career webinars and has some speaker commitments already, according to Chris Swann, past NABE board member and coordinator of the program. As of early December, Get Connected’s membership rolls have grown to 95.
“We are always looking for GC members who would like to help pull these events together. They will be on a variety of career planning topics and professional skills, including forecasting methods,” said Swann.
Mentor Program Up and Running
The mentor program is now in full swing. “We have made our first mentor-mentee matches and are very excited that the program is up and running!” said Kim Flood, a new NABE board member and the coordinator of the mentor program for Get Connected.
“We are about to do our second round of matches so the earlier people apply, the better chances they have of getting matched sooner,” she added.
Designed to help grow and support lasting professional relationships between newer and more experienced NABE members, the mentor program encourages applications from members with varying degrees of experience, from entry-level professionals to those with 40+ years working in the field of economics.
