Long-time member and NABE Fellow Robert Eggert Sr., founder of the Blue Chip Economic Indicators, died on Nov. 16 in Cottonwood, Ariz., at the age of 93. Recruited by Ford Motor Company in 1950, he was responsible for naming the “Mustang,” which became one of the company’s most popular models. He also served for 11 years at the Radio Corporation of America, where he began what was regarded as an innovative “consensus” approach to economic forecasting. When he officially retired from RCA in 1976, he began the Blue Chip newsletter, which he edited from Arizona until 1996. His family said there will be a memorial service for Bob in the spring in Sedona.
