Census Bureau

If you are looking for regional economic data, start with the Census Bureau.

Census State Data Centers- a clickable map of the United States. Click on a state, and you will get a list of state data centers. This is a pathway to numerous sites.

State and Metropolitan Area Data Book- from the table of contents, you can download Adobe Acrobat files of parts of the book.

County Business Patterns- At the main page, select a state, and then select a county.

Decennial Census of Population and Housing

Economic Census - data available by states, metropolitan areas, counties, cities, and Zip Codes. 1997 data is now available.

IRS Statistics of Income- different downloadable files, including income tax collections by state.

Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation - A weekly e-mail broadcast of important economic and business news and commentaries for the Southern California.  It also covers the international, U.S. national, and California State developments.

Regional Economics Application Library- a cooperative venture of the University of Illinois and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Regional Economic Data Tables- from the BEA , via the Louisiana Electronic Assistance Program.

Small Business Administration - State Small Business profiles

Small Business Administration - Metropolitan Statistical data by Major Industry
