Subject: Marriott on 9/11/01
I understand that you had a breakfast meeting at the Marriott
on 9/11. My husband, Jim Cleere, was in NY for a business
meeting with Marsh McLennan and a guest on the 15th floor
of the hotel. When I talked to Jim that morning, he said
that they were told over the intercom system to stay put.
He did just that and later got down to the lobby by the
restaurant on the SE corner (I think it was a nautical
theme restaurant). He had injured his leg and firemen were
tending to his injury. I am hoping that somebody from your
organization may have seen him. Jim perished with many
firefighters and 2 Marriott employees when the north tower
came down.
Jim was a big man. He weighed 300 pounds, stood 6'4",
bald with a gray mustache. People have said that he reminded
them a little of Jessie Ventura :) He was in a suit,
carrying his luggage and a laptop. Through many eye witness
accounts, I have learned some of what happened that day.
The one thing I can't seem to find out is what happened
in the Marriott. Would any of your members be willing
to share with me the details of what occurred inside
the Marriott? I have so many questions. Did anyone by
chance see Jim? Did the fire alarms go off? Were guests
told to get out? Were they told to stay until there was
more info as to what was happening or until it was safe
to move? Was it hectic? or organized? ANYTHING that they
could share with me would be helpful to me. I need to
know what happened that morning!
Thank you so very much. May God bless each of you and
continue to heal your wounds.

Subject: RE: 9/11 stories
August 28, 2003
I just wanted to say THANK YOU for posting all of the
9/11 stories that your members sent in.
My brother was staying at the Marriott and we lost him
when the second tower fell. We were very lucky because
there was someone with him after the first tower fell who
made it out so we know what happened to my brother. Being
able to read all of the stories that you have posted on
your website has let us have a better insight as to what
really happened.
My brother lived in Newton, Iowa and worked in Des Moines. He was originally
from Hattiesburg, Miss. where his mother, son and 2 of his sisters still reside.
I am one of those sisters.
I cannot begin to tell you how much the stories helped.
They gave us a window into what my brother experienced.
I have not been able to find much else relating to the
Marriott other than what you have. The Marriott and the
people who were there are never mentioned. I came across
them somewhere in my search for knowledge back in 2001.
I really appreciate ya'll keeping them on your website.
I have tried to print them out but have only been able
to print out a few of them. Computer "glitches" I
guess.
Thank you, again.
