Employment - NABE Industry Survey

The Graph of the Week comes from the January 2008 NABE Industry Survey and shows the Employment Net Rising Index. From the survey:
Employment continues to rise, an encouraging sign for an economy at risk. During the fourth quarter, 30% of respondents reported rising employment at their firms, while only 7% reported job cuts, the largest positive margin in more than a year. Over the next six months, 42% of firms plan to increase payrolls, while only 17% will cut jobs—mostly through attrition. This is a more positive hiring outlook than in the previous four quarters.
NABE members can read the full survey here. A summary is available to the public. There are also a number of employment reports coming out this week, culminating in the BLS Employment Situation report on Friday, February 1. See the NABE Economic Calendar on the home page for links to the upcoming releases.
