Capital Spending

The Graph of the Week shows the Capital Spending Net Rising Index from the July 2007 NABE Industry Survey. From the survey:
Capital spending growth among respondents improved in the July survey from the relatively low reading in April. The capital spending NRI rose to 25, well above its historical average of 15. The pickup in the NRI was due to an improvement in those respondents indicating rising capital spending and a small decline in those who said that capital spending was falling. The NRI delivered its 17th consecutive positive quarter and was in line with an average net gain of 25 over that period. The capital spending improvement reflected a rise in NRI for the goods-producing, TUIC, and FIRE sectors. The services sector was the lone sector to record a drop in NRI in July, moving down from 11 in April to 6 in the current survey.
