Employment Net Rising Index
The Graph of the Week is the Net Rising Index for Employment from the January 2007 NABE Industry Survey. From the survey:
Employment growth among respondents stabilized in the fourth quarter. The NRI of 17 was near the low end of the range (16-23) that has prevailed since mid-2004 (see Figure 5). The percentages of firms adding jobs (29%) and cutting jobs (12%) both remained little changed from the third quarter. By sector, services had the highest NRI (39), followed by TUIC (18) and FIRE (5). Goods-producing industries were shedding jobs on net (NRI of -17).
