Meeting March 26 Program
The San Antonio Business Economics Society (SABES) is holding its next monthly meeting on March 26, 2008 at the San Antonio branch of the Federal Reserve Bank. Lunch will be served at noon and reservations are required.
Our speaker is Robert Marbut who will discuss Haven for Hope, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of San Antonio's homeless population. Its mission is to reduce homelessness by providing the resources, skills, and assistance necessary for homeless people to become self sufficient in an efficient and cost-effective manner. Dr. Marbut is currently the Executive Director of Haven for Hope where he has led "best practices" research in the area of homeless transformation. Dr. Marbut is a Professor at Northwest Vista College and previous Lecturer at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Texas State University, and the University of the Incarnate Word. In addition, he has been the Executive Director of the USA Pentathlon, a Councilmember and Mayor Pro-Tem for the City of San Antonio(1995-99), the President of SA One (San Antonio Spurs Marketing Subsidiary), the President of the US Olympic Festival (1993), the founding President of the San Antonio Sports Foundation, and a White House Fellow for President George H. Bush. Dr. Marbut received his PhD and MA in Government from the University of Texas at Austin.
RESERVATION INFORMATION
The Fed is located at the corner of Nueva and Main, across the street from the Bexar County Courthouse. The street address is 126 East Nueva but the parking lot is on the Main street side. Parking is provided; just identify yourself at the entrance call box and the bar will be lifted for your vehicle's entry. Please note that you must bring a picture ID and you will be required to walk through a metal detector.
Guests and prospective members are always welcome!
The lunch fee, including parking in the Fed's parking lot, is payable at the door. Members and Guests accompanied by a Member $20.00 Non-members $30.00 Students $15.00. Note that member dues are only $35 per year. Why not consider joining our organization?
