Meetings

To all N.A.B.E. members located in the Detroit area,

It's finally here, the long awaited return of the DABE.  Due to the writers strike in Hollywood we were forced to delay our return of regularly scheduled programs, but now that an end to the strike is here we would like to initiate a new season of meetings.

The season will start with the "Bob Fish" memorial Economic and Automotive outlook luncheon.  The event will be held on Thursday March 20, 2008 at the Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago from 11:30 to approximately 1:30.  The Detroit Branch building is located at 1600 East Warren Avenue, Detroit, MI 48207-1063.

Lunch will be served prior to the presentation, which will be:

The "Detroit Three" economists presenting their U.S. sales forecast outlook for 2008 and the economic and industry assumptions that underlie these conclusions.  Ted Chu will focus on the international factors affecting the U.S. economy including currency exchange dynamics and the U.S. dollar.  Emily Kolinski Morris will provide additional insight into the impact of the sub-prime crisis and the household financial situation on new vehicle sales.  Finally, Paul Traub will pull this discussion down to a segmentation level with an analysis of the effects of the new CAFE legislation.

The cost will be $20.00 per person for D.A.B.E. members and $25 for nonmembers, and will include lunch.  Note that for the remainder of this year we are offering all NABE members, regardless of DABE status, attendance at DABE events at member pricing.

If you have special dietary needs please let us know. We will also need to take a few moments during the meeting for some administrative functions including the election of new DABE officers for 2008.  We will have ballots at the door so you can exercise your right to vote.  Think of it as practice for November.

If you plan to attend, please respond to one of the individuals below no later than Friday, March 14th so you can be added to the security list allowing admittance to the facility.  Also, be advised that the security guards will ask you for picture identification.

We look forward to seeing you on March 20th.

Note: Apologies if you have received this notice from both NABE and DABE.  We are working on updating our distribution list for DABE events, so please let us know if you no longer wish to receive these communications.
