Call For Contributed
Papers
For NABE 1999 Annual Meeting
$1,000 Prize for Best
Paper - New Review Procedure
As an NABE member, you
are encouraged to participate actively in the NABE Annual Meeting in San Francisco
on September 26-29, 1999. How? The following revised procedures and awards have
been announced by the NABE Board of Directors for the submission of contributed
papers to be presented at the meeting:
- A 250-word abstract (one
page, double spaced) of a proposed paper should be prepared and five
copies (with no author identification), accompanied by a biographical sketch
(one copy only) should be submitted not later than May 15, 1999,
to Edmund A. Mennis, Chair, Selection Committee, P.O. Box 1146, Palos Verdes
Estates, CA 90274. Topics should be related to the theme of the Annual Meeting,
"Targeting Business Risks and Opportunities," or should reflect
original research by the author on topics or in areas that would be of practical
value to NABE members in fulfilling their job responsibilities.
- By June 1, the anonymous
abstracts will be reviewed by the Selection Committee and, depending on the
quality of submissions, at least eight will be selected. The authors will
be requested to provide completed papers for review by August 1. The guidelines
for preparation will be the same as those for unsolicited manuscripts for
Business Economics. These guidelines are printed in each issue of Business
Economics on the page facing the Table of Contents, and they also are
available on the NABE website (www.nabe.com) or on request from the Editor
of Business Economics.
- From these final papers,
the Committee will select two for presentation at a featured session of the
annual meeting. Each paper will be commented on by a discussant, with time
available for general audience participation.
- The following awards
will be made to the authors of the two selected papers:
- The author of the
best paper will receive a prize of $1,000, a commemorative plaque, and
will pay no fee for attendance at the meeting. The paper (as modified
by the author if desired) will be published in a future issue of Business
Economics.
- The author of the
second paper also will receive a commemorative plaque, will pay no fee
for attendance at the meeting, and the paper (as modified by the author
if desired) will be published in a future issue of Business Economics.
- The remaining papers
will be reviewed for publication in Business Economics in future
issues.
- In fairness to all prospective
authors, you are requested to adhere strictly to the deadlines and other instructions
listed above. If you have any questions, please contact Ed Mennis at 310-373-3270
or e-mail at eamennis@instanet.com
