Bridging the Gap Between Finance and the Real Economy

The 2012 NABE Annual Meeting "Bridging the Gap Between Finance and the Real Economy" will convene October 13-16, 2012 in the heart of the nation's financial district in downtown, New York City. The 54th NABE Annual Meeting will feature dozens of top economic professionals and policymakers covering a wide-range of economic topics.

Breakfast with the Author

On Sunday morning, October 14, NABE will host its annual Author Breakfast featuring Josh Rosner, author of Reckless Endangerment

All attendees at the breakfast will receive a copy of Josh Rosner's Reckless Endangermentand will have the opportunity to meet the author. Registration for the dinner is separate from the general Annual Meeting registration. The cost is $70 for members, $95 for others. To register, click here.

 

Tour of NYC and Broadway Play

The NABE Annual Meeting features several pre-conference events that will take place ahead of the program sessions on Saturday, October 13.

Ellis Island/Statue of Liberty Tour: Attendees will meet at 12:00pm at the Marriott Downtown and walk over to Battery Park. Once they get to Battery Park the tour will begin with the Castle Clinton http://www.nps.gov/cacl/index.htm . The group will then take a ferry to the Statue of Liberty where the Ferry will stop and they will have the opportunity to get an up close photo of the statue but will not be getting off the Ferry. Then the Ferry will contine on to Ellis Island where they willl take a one hour guided tour. Once the tour ends, the attendees are free to explore Ellis Island on their own, including the geneology exhibits. Please note: the Statue of Liberty is currently closed for maintence and is not scheduled to open back up until the end of October.

Broadway Play: On the evening of Saturday, October 13, attendees will head to Broadway to take in the hit play "War Horse," winner of five 2011 Tony's including "Best Play."

Scholarships

The NABE Foundation will award scholarships to the 2012 NABE Annual Meeting. To be eligible for consideration to receive the scholarship, one must:

1) Be 35 years old or younger;

2) Have worked in the economics field for seven years or less;

3) Currently be involved in a position that uses economic principles and theory; and

4) Hold an undergraduate college degree or higher.

 

The deadline for applications has passed.  Please check back for information on scholarships for the NABE Economic Policy Conference in March 2013.
